Armed Forces Medical College
Armed Forces Medical College is a premier medical institute of India acknowledged as a centre of excellence for education and research. The college provides training to under-graduate and post-graduate medical and nursing students with assured career prospects in the defence services.
The institute was set up on 01 May 1948 by the recommendations of the BC Roy Committee by the amalgamation of various defence medical organizations. The "Graduate Wing" of AFMC was established on 04 August 1962 to provide a sustainable and steady intake of medical officers for the Indian Armed Forces. The institute is presently affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the MCI for conducting undergraduate and various post graduate medical courses.

Academic / Research
The Indian Teachers of Psychiatry (IToP) award for Best Department contributing towards Post-graduate Psychiatry Education, 2022-23, was recieved by Dr. Kaushik Chatterjee on behalf of the Department of Psychiatry, AFMC, at the National CME on Psychiatry Faculty Training held on 26 Nov 2022 at St. John's Medical College, Bengaluru. The conference was held under the aegis of Indian Psychiatry Society. This award has been instituted by the Minds United Trust and Infosys Foundation.
Dr VDS Jamwal received Dr Inderjit Dewan Award (2019) at the Global Congress of Anatomists & 69 NATCON held at Gadag, Karnataka. He was also awarded Smt Manorama Rani Singh Memorial Gold medal for the best poster. Dr Rahul Jha & Dr B Subhash won the 2nd prize in Faculty Quiz. Dr Anupama & Dr Tejvirat (JR II) won the 3rd prize in PG Quiz.
